About the Writer
Sandra Mason is a native Western North Carolinian and now lives and writes from a hand-hewn
log cabin she designed and built on land that has been in her family since the early 1800s.
“It seems I stayed long enough and now everyone has decided it is a fine place to spend your days.”
Her first play, Return of an Angel enjoyed three seasons at Asheville Community Theater.
“I have never known fear like the opening night of Return of an Angel. I imagined an audience of only me, my husband, and his daughters that had flown in for support. Fortunately, my worst fears are seldom realized. It was a lovely evening with tears, laughter, and many heartwarming congratulations.”
Along About Sundown was an extended family reunion. She co-wrote the play with her sister Brenda Lilly, and their cousin Tomi Lynn Lunsford is a featured singer and musician. The play is a musical memoir of Bascom Lamar Lunsford, The Minstrel of the Appalachians, and just happens to be their Great Uncle.
Heaven.com has yet to be produced but has enjoyed the longest run. It’s the mostly true story of how Sandra and her husband John developed an online romance. He remains her love and inspiration.
Sandra is now editing her first middle-grade novel. She spends her mornings writing and alive in the magical world of creativity. Her afternoons are filled with the agony of hammering those words into a computer.
Sandra and John live in Madison County, NC, with Jasper, their rescue pup. Their driveway is not suitable for flatlanders or city folk.
